Dr Lilian Hobbs has 30 years of IT experience, where she has specialized in databases and received a Phd from Southampton University for her research into fully automating the design of a CODASYL database.

Lilian began her database career building the largest European CODASYL database for a financial institution. She then joined Digital Equipment where she became a member of the Rdb Consulting Development team, specialising in designing and tuning very high performance Rdb systems around the world. At this time she authored her first book, Rdb A Comprehensive Guide and several other IT publications.

When Rdb was acquired by Oracle, Lilian became a Product Manager in Oracle Database Development, where for the last 13 years she has had various responsibilities including Summary Management and most recently she developed Oracle ILM's strategy. Whilst at Oracle she also wrote several books on Oracle's Data Warehousing capabilities and is a well known speaker at conferences around the world.
